EDUCARE The purpose of this initiative is to
raise the awareness and understanding of Sathya Sai Baba’s Divine concept of
Sathya Sai Educare. It will assist devotees to understand the spiritual
significance of this sacred concept and how it could be put into practise in
daily life. Sathya Sai Educare is a holistic approach to life. It represents spirituality in its totality. It is not a new concept. It is ‘Practical Spirituality’.’ Bhagawan has been promoting it since His advent. In Baba’s words,” How can you call yourselves
educated if you do not understand what educare is? The word 'education' is derived
from the Latin root 'educare'. While education refers to a collection of
worldly facts, educare is to bring out from within. Education is for a
living, while educare is for life. Education is for jeevana upadhi (livelihood). Educare is for jeevitha paramavadhi (the ultimate goal of life)”. “The fundamental basis for everything is love.
This is what you should aspire for. Educare means to bring out the divine
love latent in man. That is why it is said, Love is God, live in Love. Then
there would be no conflict in the world, and all would live together happily.
Only when there are differences is there conflict. Push aside these
differences, and live with the feeling of oneness”. As Baba says, Educare is to bring out from
within. The essence of what this means can be surmised from a letter that
Baba had written to students in October 1973 which reads, “….Spiritual
development does not germinate the seed sown in the soil of earthly
pleasures. Every reaction in the form of hatred or evil is so much loss to the
mind and every evil thought or deed of hatred or any thought of reaction if
it is controlled will be laid in our favour. It is not that you lose by thus
restraining ourselves. We are gaining infinitely more than we suspect. Each
time we suppress hatred or a feeling of anger it is so much good energy
stored up in our favour. That piece of energy will be converted into the
highest powers.” The word ‘educare’ has a sacred inner
meaning. That which is manifested by ‘educare’ cannot be seen by the eyes,
cannot be heard by the ears and cannot be felt by the mind. Educare is a
gradual unfolding of our inner consciousness. It is the process of bringing
out the inner knowledge and values. It is systematic evolution of Man towards
God. Sathya Sai Educare should permeate each
and every activity that we do both within and outside the organisation. It
should be earnestly practiced in thought, word and deed in everything that we
do. ACTION Devotees should implement the themes at centre
/ group levels. For example by: ·
Having study circles on Educare themes.
Cover a theme at one or more study circles – this could be done as a small
group or involving all devotees during a bhajan (GDS) get together to
maximise benefit for all. ·
Making thought for the day based upon
an Educare theme at a Bhajan (GDS) get together. ·
Reading or doing a short presentation
on an Educare theme after Bhajan (GDS) session. ·
Handing out copies of the fact sheets
to all devotees on Educare themes. · Doing a quiz on Educare theme to promote interest |
